The *** has launched a programme for verification of products based on renewable raw materials.

The test is based on the following standards:

ASTM D 6866 – “Standard Test Methods for Determining the Biobased Content of Solid, Liquid, and Gaseous Samples Using Radiocarbon Analysis”

ISO 16620 – “Plastics – Biobased content”

For the “biobased” logo according to DIN EN 16785-1, the percentage of biobased carbon can be indicated with a corresponding logo.

once successful testing is complete, application for formal certification can be made to the ***. In turn the *** has enlisted an independent third party technical auditor to evaluate applications. If successful then an invitation is sent by *** to license the logo by payment of nominal fee and signing a license agreement. Successful applicants will then be licensed to use the logo along with their unique certification number.
